"I recently started coming to Contempo & I love it so much! Everyone leaves there with a fierce attitude. I love the positive vibes and all teachers are great! Dancers do it best"
  • What’s the cancellation policy?
We require at least 8 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a class without losing your credit. No-shows and late cancellations will result in the loss of that class pass.
  • Can I bring my child to class?
We love the little ones, but our studio is an adult-only environment. To maintain a safe and empowering space, we ask that you do not bring children to class, as the music and movement may not always be age-appropriate.
  • How often do you host workshops?
We aim to host workshops every 6–8 weeks, and they often fill up fast — so be sure to reserve your spot early when registration opens!
  • What if I’m late to class?
We allow a 10-minute grace period after class begins. After 10 minutes, the doors will close and we won’t be able to let anyone in. This is to keep the flow of class safe and respectful for everyone.
  • What kind of environment does Contempo promote?
We’re all about creating a positive, inclusive, and judgment-free space. We ask that all dancers come with good energy and respect for themselves and others. This is a place to let go, vibe out, and dance freely.
  • Can I record in class?
Recording is allowed only when approved by the instructor, and typically just during the last few run-throughs of choreography. Please be respectful of others' comfort and privacy.
  • What’s your refund policy?
All purchases are non-refundable. However, as long as you cancel on time (at least 8 hours in advance), you’ll keep your class credit and can reschedule.
  • What’s the minimum for class to happen?
We have a 2-person minimum for all classes. At least two people must be signed up 90 minutes before class or it will be canceled — so grab your friend and sign up early!
  • What do I wear to a Heels class?
We recommend something that makes you feel confident, sexy, and ready to move — fitted pieces, layers, or anything that lets you tap into your sass. Heels are not required to take the class. If you're new or still building confidence, feel free to dance barefoot or in socks. If you're bringing heels from home, make sure they: Wrap around the ankle securely Have a closed toe or dance-safe heel Feel stable when you walk Not sure what type of heels to get? Just ask your instructor — we got you.
  • What do I wear to a Hip-Hop class?
Keep it comfy and street. Loose-fitting clothes, layers, joggers, crop tops — anything you can move in. Closed-toed sneakers are required for safety. Please bring a separate pair of clean studio shoes — street shoes aren't allowed on the dance floor.
  • What should I wear to a Jazz class?
Anything fitted or loose that allows full movement. Jazz shoes are recommended but not required — any dance shoe will elevate your experience. You’re also welcome to dance in socks or barefoot if needed.
  • What should I bring to a workshop?
Bring water, your favorite dance shoes (or heels if it's a heels workshop), knee pads if needed, and all the good energy. You’ll be moving a lot, so comfort and readiness are key.
  • Can I use my membership to sign up for a workshop?
Yes! If you have the Momentum Membership or a Full-On Membership, you can use that to register for select in-studio workshops.
  • Do I have to be a member to take a workshop?
Not at all. Workshops are open to everyone — members and non-members alike. Just sign up, show up, and be ready to dance.
  • What’s a workshop like?
Workshops are extended dance training sessions, typically 2+ hours long. This is where we go deeper into technique, musicality, and storytelling — plus, you’ll get more time to learn longer choreography and really connect with the movement. Think of it as a vibe AND a challenge.
  • Do I need to be a certain level to take a workshop?
Nope — but do check the level listed for each one. We offer a range of workshops: some are beginner, some intermediate, and some are open level. We’ll always label them so you know what to expect.
  • What’s the time commitment like?
Dance team rehearsals are 90 minutes each week, and we expect dancers to be fully committed for the entire season. Toward the end of the season, there will be 2–3 additional mandatory rehearsals on different dates — these are shared with you at the start of the season so you can plan ahead. Attendance at all rehearsals and the final performance is required to participate.
  • How many performances can I expect?
Teams typically perform 1–2 times per season. Performances can vary from in-studio events to local showcases to high-quality video projects.
  • Are there tryouts?
Nope — no tryouts here. Everyone is welcome. We place dancers where we feel they’ll be most challenged, supported, and set up to thrive.
  • Do I need any prior dance experience?
Not at all! Our teams are designed for all levels. We care more about your energy, attitude, and willingness to grow.
  • What is it like dancing on a team?
Being part of a Contempo dance team means community, growth, and straight-up good vibes. You’ll train with your team weekly, work toward a performance, and push your craft in a fun, supportive, empowering environment.
  • Can I be on more than one team?
Yes! Dancers are welcome to join more than one team per season — just be sure you’re able to keep up with the commitment. Each team rehearses weekly for 90 minutes, so you'll need to stay on top of choreography, rehearsals, and attendance for each one
  • How long is a season?
Dance team seasons range from 8 to 16 weeks, depending on the time of year and performance schedule.
  • What styles are available for dance teams?
Styles vary by season but often include hip-hop, heels, and jazz. Sometimes we switch it up to keep things fresh!
  • What’s the age requirement for dance teams?
    adults only
  • Are there any fees for joining the dance team?
Yes. There is a one-time registration fee that includes your team costume. After that, there is a monthly fee for ongoing training and rehearsals.
  • How often do you open up dance teams?
We offer about 3 to 4 team seasons per year, so there are plenty of chances to jump in when you're ready.
  • What makes Contempo different?
We’re not just a dance studio — we’re a movement experience. Our classes are built to empower adults to move with confidence, connect with music, and feel strong, sexy, and supported. No cliques, no pressure, no perfection — just real vibes, real growth, and a whole lot of fun.
  • Do you offer a free trial class?
We don’t offer free trials, but you’re welcome to sign up for just one class — no membership or pass required. If you decide you love it (and we think you will!), you can head to the front desk the same day to upgrade to a pass or membership, and we’ll apply what you paid as credit toward the new option.
  • Do you sell water at the studio?
Yes! We’ve got bottled water available. Just head over to the fridge, write down your first and last name + phone number, and you’re good to go. Stay hydrated, boo 💧
  • Is there parking available?
Yes — we have free parking right outside the studio. It’s first-come, first-served, so we recommend arriving a little early, especially for evening classes.
  • I’m nervous… I’ve never danced before. Will I feel out of place?
Not at all. We love beginners. Many of our dancers are starting their journey right here at Contempo. Our classes are built to meet you where you’re at — no judgment, no pressure, just movement, music, and good energy. You belong here.
  • Do I have to be recorded in class?
Nope! While we do record the final run-through at the end of most classes, you are never required to be in the video. Our instructors always ask beforehand if anyone prefers not to be filmed, and we respect that 100%. Our goal is for every dancer to eventually feel confident enough to want to be in the video — but that comfort level is totally on your terms.
  • Can I bring a friend who’s never danced before?
Absolutely. Many of our dancers are first-timers or just getting back into movement. Just make sure your friend signs up ahead of time — spots do fill quickly!
  • What age range is Contempo for?
Our studio is for adults, typically ages 18+. We welcome all adults — no matter your age, size, or background — to come move with us.
  • I’m unsure if I want to take a class. Can I sit in and watch first?
We don’t allow observers in class — and here’s why: we work hard to create a safe, supportive space where every dancer feels free to explore, especially if it’s their first time. We never want someone to feel like they’re being watched, so we ask that you join us on the floor when you’re ready to move!
  • Do I need to bring anything to class?
Just yourself and a good attitude! For most classes, you’ll want: Water Studio shoes (if required) Knee pads (for heels, floorwork, or chair) A sweat towel (optional, but helpful)
